"We want the CHS tell us if authorized new water concessions in the area that may have an impact on the flow , " said Deputy Miguel Garaulet
Murcia, Saturday 8 October-.
Citizens want answers to the fact that the thermal flow that services the Baths of Mula has fallen 70% -of 39 liters per second to just over ten- since 2009, and this has inquired both the Government and the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura about the possible causes of this decline, which can decisively affect the maintenance of this source of tourism and wealth in the region of Río Mula.
Members Miguel Garaulet and José Luis Martínez presented a battery of questions in Congress to try to shed light on the decline of ecological minimum flows in the Mula and Pliego rivers, which serve the thermal baths, dating from the seventeenth century when a landslide caused the upwelling of water.
"We want to know whether the Government has information on possible causes of this decline in the flow, which could be related to the existence of possible illegal boreholes due to the drought in the region," said Jose Luis Martinez.
In addition, deputies oranges require the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura to report on whether granted new water concessions in the area or authorization for new irrigation systems.
"We call on the CHS to report on whether any action is further provided for maintaining a permanent ecological and sanitary flow in the river Mula which simultaneously serves to maintain these facilities," added Martinez.
