The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment will undertake this same month an investment of 60,000 euros in the Castle of Mula in an emergency action and in a subsidiary way to guarantee the security of the property and its preservation.

This decision was adopted after the technical visit made by the director general of Cultural Property, Juan Antonio Lorca, and technicians of the Community, which was incorporated representatives and staff of the City.

In the visit it was verified that it is necessary to act since the owners are not fulfilling their obligation to preserve and maintain this fortress declared of Cultural Interest.

Emergency actions include the review of access and closures, the removal of upper vegetation that is affecting and displacing ashlars in structures or the stabilization of wall structures in the entrance area.

It is also planned to intervene in the access ramp protections, vertical and horizontal gaps, stabilization of matacanes in the Tower of Homage, as well as stabilization in the upper corner of the same tower.

Lorca said that "technicians consider these emergency actions and are already preparing the corresponding report for immediate implementation." It is regrettable the negligence of the owners and the state in which they have this jewel of the regional heritage.In addition, we will require the City Council Which already touches fundamental actions, for which we provide a significant budget from the Autonomous Community.

In particular, the City of Mula has been required to execute 80,000 of the 166,371 euros granted by the Community for the shoring of the western tower of the wall.

"This action was pending a geotechnical study that the City says they have just received, so we believe that they should start running this month," said the director general of Cultural Assets.

Also, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment is waiting to receive the Master Plan for the Castle of Mula with all the actions to be carried out and that has the financing of the Community and the technical support of the Directorate General of Goods Cultural.

The drafting of the Master Plan was already taken to tender and is pending award.
