Mula to UNESCO promotes the statement of the Drum Festival and Heritage (25/02/2011)

Mula City Council, in close collaboration with the regions that have a tradition of touching the drum and / or hype, is promoting to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declaration of the Party Drum Mula Heritage of Humanity.

Thus, in conjunction with official reports and expressions of support from clubs and associations related to the drum, the mayor of Mula, Diego Cervantes, wanted to show their support for this achievement by sending a letter to UNESCO in transmitting their interest Drum Festival that is a World Heritage Site.

In the letter, Cervantes records the recognition that it is the Feast of the Drums of Mula, declared of National Tourist Interest in 2009, and the roots that this cultural event has among the population and its evolution over time, a tradition that every year receives more visitors coming from all regions and outside of Spain, thus contributing to the dissemination of culture in the Region of Murcia.

It also looks forward to the festival Mula Drum obtain the declaration of a Cultural Heritage, which made the City Council request the Autonomous Region in June last year.
