The Minister Antonio Cerdá Mula opens in a new Regional Environmental Center (09/02/2010)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, today inaugurated a new Regional Environmental Center (CECOM), located in El Niño de Mula, which represents an investment of 159,000 euros.

Cerda said that "it is already 16 centers of its kind available that correspond to the forest regions that divide the region."

To achieve this new center, under the Directorate General of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, has been renovated both the exterior and the interior of the old public schools of that hamlet, according to the aesthetic and architectural types representative of the environment .

These actions, Cerda said, "have led to 500 job wages during the period of one year."

The counselor said that the top floor of the center "will be used exclusively for environmental agents as customer service office, for matters such as issuing permits.

On the ground floor are located the offices of the Forest Fire Brigade (Brifor) and will also be the headquarters of the Association of Residents of Niño de Mula.

The Environmental Market towns, he concluded Cerdá, "providing citizens with access to information and public services provided by the Section for Coordination of Environmental Agents."

Serving the public is done in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 to 10:30, although telephone inquiries are handled by letter and email.

The optimization of the functions of information and advice to citizens in the Market towns Environmental Network, said Cerda, will have the support of the implementation of Quality Management System, according to the UNE ISO 9001:2000 and with the implementation of the Charter of Services Section Environmental Agents, "all aimed at achieving a real improvement in the quality of services that agents provide to the citizens."

Surveillance and control

The adviser said that a total of 550,212 hectares of regional surface with various figures of legal protection for their important environmental values.

Add to that the wealth of species and fish whose exploitation can only be in accordance with current regulations and, therefore, "must be kept under surveillance and control."

In this sense, Cerda said the hard work to develop the 105 environmental agents distributed throughout the Region, because "they are the ones every day in front, on the ground, assuring the conservation and protection of our flora and fauna but also helping people to better use and enjoyment of nature. "
