The community invests more than 111,000 euros to launch the bicycle rental system, automatic and manual Mula (05/03/2010)

Has a technology that allows access to bikes 24 hours a day via SMS

The Ministry of Universities, Research and Enterprise and Public Works and Planning invested over 111,000 euros in the implementation of bicycle rental system automatic and manual in the town of Mula, who was inaugurated today by Director General of Industry , Energy and Mines, José Francisco Puche, and the Director General for Transport and Ports, Carmen Sandoval, with the mayor of the town, Diego Cervantes.

The system has five strategically located bases in the city and 80 bicycles, of which five are in reserve and the remaining 75 to serve the public.

In addition, 55 of these bikes are part of the automatic loan that allows can be used 24 hours a day 365 days a year by sending an SMS.

To take advantage of this free service that promotes sustainable mobility, driven by the regional government, citizens must register and fill out a form with personal data in the Department of Environment of the City, located in the Technical Office, cross road Pliego, 4, third floor, Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 12:00.

They must also submit two passport photographs, which are necessary for processing of green card-bike, which will be valid for a year, and get a personal code.

With this code, via a text message from your mobile phone, you can use any bicycle system that is available.

The text message, which will address the number assigned to the City Council will have the following structure: take b (number of bike) c (number lock) and the number of users.

In 15 seconds, the bike will release the lock and the user can use.

The service also features a manual mode, for which the user must go to the offices of the Environment to provide, the number of bicycle and give the appropriate key.

The bicycle rental system consists of five bases-bike park with a total of 15 bikes each strategically distributed by the municipality, in particular, El Niño de Mula, Town Hall Square, Room M (Youth Center) Gabarrón Kitts Park and the Municipal Sports Pavilion.

Environmental benefits and sustainable mobility

The regional government, in collaboration with municipalities, develops various measures aimed at promoting sustainable mobility.

One such measure is the implementation of the system free loan of bicycles as an efficient, fast, inexpensive, healthy and environmentally friendly.

The automated bicycle rental is framed in the Plan of Action Saving Strategy and Efficiency in Spain (E-4), signed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDEA), and by the Autonomous Community Region of Murcia.

Therefore, it is funded one hundred percent with the aid of the transport sector which manages the Energy Management Agency of the Region of Murcia.

The opening of the bicycle rental system is the first of seven planned in as many municipalities: Cieza, Murcia, Puerto Lumbreras, San Javier (La Manga), White and Villanueva del Río Segura, Mula well.

In total, these systems available to the city about 600 bicycles.
