Mula under the deafening sound of drums (30/03/2010)

Thousands of drums yesterday flooded the streets of Mula on a night of great splendor for the municipality, the Night of the Drums, declared last year of National Tourist Interest.

From eleven at night began to reach the first drummers to the Town Hall Square after dinner sausage typical of the earth, and to tradition in the various establishments in the municipality or in the rock drummers.

Shortly before midnight on the plaza and surrounding streets were full of drummers dressed in his black robe and his drum and visitors who come each year to the town, attracted by the splendor of this night, as in Spain.

A great sound and light show marked the moments before the arrival of midnight when the clock of the square marks the start playing accompanied by the sound of cornets and drums of the Association of drums.

At that moment the silence broken tradition Mula flooded until four in the afternoon of the next day when the drums stop to make way for the procession of Holy Wednesday.

The drums sound again Friday morning from 8 until 4 pm and on Easter Sunday from 12 noon until 8 pm.

This year, as usual, have participated in the Festival of Drums diverse personalities of national and regional levels.

This year, joined the Mayor of Mula, Diego Cervantes and local authorities, the Government Delegate, Rafael González Tovar, secretary general of the Regional PSOE, Pedro Saura, regional deputy of the Socialist Group, Antonio Martínez Bernal, the regional deputy group Socialist PAAG Joaquin Lopez, the commander of the barracks of the Espuña, Juan José abolished, the artist Mülenen, Christopher Gabarrón, Cris Gabarrón, Miriam Gómez de Cabrera Infante, and journalists and writers, Vicente Molina Foix, Ángel Sánchez Harguindey, Toni Munne and Miguel Hernandez, among others.

This year the weather has also been the protagonist in the Night of the Drums, which in recent years has been threatened by rain and cold.

Because of the anticipation of the massive participation of drummers and visitor arrivals have established a safety and health of great importance, with reinforcements of troops from Local Police, Guardia Civil, Civil Protection and ambulances as well as a field hospital for possible incidents.
