The general director of Cultural Assets, Rafael Gómez, visited today the Roman villa of Los Villaricos de Mula, one of the most emblematic sites of the Region of Murcia and one of the main models of Roman rural settlement of the peninsular southeast, to know the details of this excavation campaign.
The Community and the City Council of Mula have been making considerable efforts for the conservation, adaptation and musealization of the site.
Thus, in this last year, Villaricos has benefited from two grants from the General Directorate of Cultural Property.
The first, of 30,000 euros, belongs to the 2018 call for grants for research in the archaeological and paleontological heritage of the Region of Murcia, while the second, of almost 80,000 euros, is aimed at phase 3 of restoration, consolidation and coverage of the archaeological site in order to guarantee its protection and conservation.
