The Plenum of the City Council has approved, in a telematic session and unanimously, a new modification of the municipal budget amounting to 165,000 euros to implement new measures to mitigate the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 for self-employed workers and businesses in the municipality.Over the next few days, the Municipal Government will approve a public call for subsidies for those self-employed and businesses that have had to cease their activity or who have seen their income reduced by 75%.
This direct financial aid from the City Council will be 475 euros per self-employed person and will have to be devoted entirely to expenses related to the activity of the beneficiary. The mayor, Juan Jesús Moreno, has stated that "with this financial aid we intend to complement the aid implemented by the Government of Spain in order to compensate for the decrease in income, prevent possible defaults and that the self-employed and businesses can restart their activity in the best possible conditions ”.This measure comes in addition to the exemption from the payment of the drinking water, garbage and sanitation rate, the exemption of fees from various municipal services and the urgently needed social aid, dining room scholarships and the Municipal Program of Foods.
Since the state of alarm began, the City Council has mobilized 462,000 euros worth of financial resources to combat the social and economic impact of the pandemic. The Municipal Government plans to implement these urgent measures approved so far with the development of two other medium-term proposals in the coming months, such as an Employment Promotion Plan and a Dynamization Plan for the Commercial Sector and Support for Entrepreneurship.
