The Mayor and Councilor for Social Policy hold a meeting on the Minimum Vital Income (13/06/2020)

The Mayor of Mula, Juan Jesús Moreno and the Councilor for Social Policy, Antonia Gabarrón, participated in a meeting by videoconference yesterday, Thursday, June 11, with different positions and technicians from the Delegation of the Government of the Region of Murcia and the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Pensions of the Government of Spain.It served to address different issues related to the minimum vital income (IMV), such as economic benefit from Social Security, in its non-contributory modality, whose management corresponds to the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).One of the main problems that non-contributory benefits suffer from is that, on many occasions, due to different management barriers, they do not effectively reach the population that really needs it.

Therefore, for this benefit to be effective in reducing extreme poverty, it was reported at the meeting that a multi-channel entrance has been designed for applicants for the minimum vital income.

In this context, the City Council will participate in the management in accordance with the collaboration mechanisms provided for in Royal Decree-Law 20/2020.In addition, the Government of Spain will study from 2021, the conclusion of agreements with the Autonomous Communities that contemplate formulas of management of said benefit.Starting next Monday, June 15, the Minimum Vital Income may be requested at the Social Security offices.
