Last weekend, a new public car park began operating in the La Fuensanta neighborhood, specifically in the northern area of ??Calle Postigos.
It is designed to house 100 vehicles.
The investment made from the municipal budget has amounted to 40,000 euros.The new car park serves a very busy area where the facilities of two schools are located: the CEIP Santo Domingo and the Niño Jesús public nursery and the neighborhoods of La Fuensanta and El Puntarrón.
Neighbors have expressed their joy at the entry into operation of this new infrastructure, as it comes to solve the problem of parking in these historic neighborhoods with narrow and steep streets.The action responds to the need to improve mobility and increase parking spaces highlighted by citizens and groups in the area in participatory meetings held within the framework of the European project KAIRÓS.The KAIRÓS project aims to plan and identify action measures for the urban, economic and social recovery of the historic neighborhoods of the city of Mula: La Fuensanta, El Puntarrón, El Carmen, Santo Domingo, Los Molinos and the Zona Alta.
Actions based on the use of existing heritage, ethnographic and tourist resources.
The Kairós project is one of the 23 action networks approved by the European URBACT Program that promotes sustainable and integrated urban development.Mula leads as a main partner a network of European cities with which he shares the problem of the degradation of its historic neighborhoods.
They are Belene (Bulgaria), Cesena (Italy), Malbork (Poland), Roskilde (Denmark), Heraklion (Greece), Sibenik (Croatia) and Ukmergé (Lithuania).
The total amount to develop the Kairós project in all the cities that make up the network is 623,905.81 euros.
The project will last two years and is financed by the FEDER Fund.
