Letter from the Mayor to the citizens of Mula. September 2020 (20/09/2020)

Muleñas, muleños, friends and friends:Without a doubt, the year 2020 will go down in history as one of the hardest of our democracy.

We are currently facing a difficult and complex scenario as a result of a fatal and long pandemic episode without precedent worldwide, known to all as COVID-19.I am aware of the hard impact that many homes in our municipality are suffering.

This health crisis has also led to a social and economic crisis suffered especially by those most disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors, but also our businesses, hoteliers and, ultimately, the entire business fabric of Mula and its Region. For this reason, it is in these moments that we all must make a great effort and, especially, those of us who for a time of our lives dedicate ourselves to public management, we submit to the great test and the duty to propose practical solutions , which require strong meditation, study and effort to, as far as possible, alleviate the effects of this health crisis. The Mula City Council has considered it necessary and of vital importance to allocate the bulk of the resources and efforts to help our companies, our businesses and, above all, help and attend to all the social emergencies that unfortunately have been occurring in these times. And in this scenario, while the summer heat is softening and a timid hint of autumn is perceived little by little, which is denoted in the light, in the temperature and in the unmistakable smell of jasmine and alhábega from our streets, a few days arrive very special.

Special days that, together with our beautiful Holy Week and the feast of San Isidro, we all mark the beginning of the year on our calendars.

I am referring to the big week of Mula, its fair and September festivities that we celebrate in honor of our Divine Child Jesus of Bethlehem, Our Lady, the Virgin of Carmen and San Felipe Mártir.Circumstances mean that in 2020 we cannot enjoy the parade at the inauguration, the concerts, the festivals, the thunderous and colorful fireworks castles, but above all a few days full of joy, music, dance.

In short, a few days of meeting and fun with our family and friends.Despite this, I want to convey a message of optimism, of hope.

Soon we will be victorious in this tough battle that we are fighting, defeating the virus "together" and know that we will once again celebrate and enjoy our festivities as only the Muleños and Muleñas know how to do it.

Very soon we will return to enjoy the drum rolls, our processions in Passion week, San Isidro and, of course, the September festivities.

It is time to be united and to act with responsibility, that which the people of Mula have demonstrated daily during the harshest and most powerful months of the pandemic. That is why I ask you for a special sensitivity on these September holidays, that you act responsibly, think of yourself, your friends, your family members and that you take care of your loved ones.

I am one of those who think that, in these moments, is when those great values ??have to be put into practice that, in the end, allow us to define ourselves as a society and as a people.

And it is that, as Mayor of Mula, I feel the need to convey to you, on my behalf and on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, gratitude for the exemplary behavior of the majority of the residents of the municipality of Mula.

Thank you from the heart for your commitment and enjoy these days of rest with responsibility.GREAT STRENGTH AND GREETINGS FOR YOUR FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES.Your mayor and friend.Juan Jesus Moreno Garcia
