The extension with Aqualia settled the City Council's historic debt with the water company (26/09/2020)

| It gave 800,000 euros for network improvements until 2027 and involved the opening of the heated pool | The mayor of Mula, Juan Jesús Moreno, appears publicly to explain to the Muleños what were the measures to put on the table a five-year extension with AqualiaThe mayor of Mula, Juan Jesús Moreno, has appeared publicly to explain the accusations made by the municipal group of Izquierda Unida-Los Verdes and on the contentious-administrative appeal against the Plenary agreement of the City Council that approved an extension of the contract with Aqualia presented by this municipal group.Juan Jesús Moreno went back to 2002 with the previous extension of the service and where the rate for industrial imbalance was imposed, a clause that has been an important economic burden for the City Council when Cofrusa, the main consumer of water in the municipality, ceased its activity. The agreement brought to plenary session in January 2020 by which the contract with Aqualia was extended until 2027 means that the City Council has 800,000 euros of anticipated canon for actions regarding the improvement of pipelines and supplies until the end of the contract, with which Muleños will have around 100,000 euros per year for improvements to the water network. It also made it possible to close the historical debt that the City Council had with the distributor and, it meant being able to open the heated pool, closed since 2012.The agreement, now in the courts, was developed by municipal technicians and agreed by all political groups and received during the plenary session the favorable votes of 15 councilors (PSOE and PP) and the vote against the IU."What's more," highlighted the mayor, "in 2027, when the extension ends we will be at zero with the water company, we can take the management of water to public contracting or municipalize the service, which will mean enormous advantages for all residents."Regarding the personal criticisms that appear in the Izquierda Unida note, the mayor stressed that he has the support of the Muleños who have given him the absolute majority and the clear conscience that they have worked to improve services for the residents of the municipality .

"The rest of the criticism makes me stronger and gives me life, and, in future occasions, if any political group sees any indication of corruption, they may take me to court and not to City Hall."
