[Meeting of the Municipal Council of Historical-Artistic Heritage of Mula (20/12/2020)

This Friday the meeting of the Municipal Council of Historical-Artistic Heritage of the City of Mula took place.

The council, chaired by the Councilor for Culture, Diego J.

Boluda Buend a, meets six months after its last plenary session, and has focused on numerous issues related to the Cultural Heritage of the municipality .

The event was attended by members of the municipal corporation, different municipal technicians dedicated to heritage and culture, as well as representatives of ASAMIC and the Mula for Su Castillo Platform. The preferred theme and that has caused an intense debate within the Council, has been the Castle of Mula and the Commemoration of the V Centenary of its construction.

Regarding the Castle, the members of the Council have had an influence on continuing with the expropriation process of the fortress and on the request for financing in the 2021 Autonomous Community budgets, both to continue with the consolidation works and restoration of the fortress, as for the commemoration of the V Centenary. Among the topics covered have been: the archaeological activities that have begun in the Alcazaba del Castillo; the Regeneration Plan for the Barrios Altos de Mula, which the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has been developing; the situation of the works of art of the Royal Monastery of the Incarnation that were transferred without permission by the Poor Clare nuns, which have opened a sanctioning file by the General Directorate of Cultural Property; the cataloging of the Lope de Vega Theater and the request for aid to rehabilitate the upper tier of the building; the study and restoration of the v tor located in the Casas de Justicia del Marqu s de los V lez in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the investments and actions that the City Council will carry out in the Roman site of Los Villaricos ,the Abrigo del Milano as well as the subsidies granted by the Sierra Espuña Tourist Services Association, which will represent important activities in the municipality's Historical Heritage. The Councilor for Culture and Historical Heritage has highlighted that the commitment that the Municipal Government is making for the Heritage of the municipality through investments is very important and there is a clear commitment to revalue the rich historical-art legacy stico of the municipality.
