The mayor of Mula, Juan Jes s Moreno, accompanied by the spokesman for the Socialist municipal group, Francisco Javier Llamazares, made a balance of the year this Wednesday morning and showed his enthusiasm for the arrival of the new year, "A year that is going to be marked by the vaccine and full of possibilities for the Muleños," he stated. The mayor began his speech by talking about the economic measures that have marked the daily activity of the City Council since the beginning of the pandemic.

"At the beginning of 2020 a budget full of actions was approved for the municipality that has had to undergo many modifications throughout these months due to the Covid pandemic, mainly aimed at Social Policy and Business Policy", explained. “We have made available to the Muleños around one million euros in social aid, aid for the self-employed, subsidies for water, sanitation, garbage, occupation of the public road, as well as as reinforcement of cleaning in educational centers, reinforcement of cleaning personnel and culture ”. In economic matters, the City Council has not increased debt to face these aid, with the current debt with suppliers standing at around 2,500,000 euros.

"It is not a figure to be proud of, but it is the fact that we have been able to face 4,500,000 euros of debt to suppliers despite the pandemic." The City Council has received 83,000 euros from the National Government and 17,500 euros from the Regional Government, and, a few hours after the end of 2020, we hope that financing will continue to arrive from that Covid Fund from the National Government and receive the necessary aid to face to all the proposals and needs addressed to the Autonomous Community. For his part, Francisco Llamazares took stock of a large part of the investments that had been made in recent months, emphasizing that the pandemic had not slowed down the actions in the municipality, both in Mula and the districts.

Thus, it listed some of the works already executed such as the improvements in Boticas Street, the actions in the five parks of the town, in the Municipal Energy Efficiency Plan with the replacement of lights, the improvement of rural roads such as El Cigarralejo or Los Almarjales, the Plaza de Fuente Librilla or the Plaza de Abastos de Mula. Among the actions that are being carried out at the moment, the Altos de Santo Domingo, the access to the Castle or the sidewalk of the Anita Arnao school stood out, coinciding with the improvements that are being made in the school's fence. For 2021, the socialist spokesman stressed that an investment in works is planned for over a million euros.

Among some of the proposals that already have completed projects, the improvements in the Jard n, Postigos streets, Juan Viñegla avenue, the rural roads of El Balate or Prao Negro, as well as the implementation of various actions in the castle like the path of the Albacar or the Aljibe. He also explained the great project of the Sierra Espuña Tourist Association for which Mula has eight major actions that, “although they will be carried out over the next three years, they will be carried out during the 2021 the motorhome area in New Homes or the adaptation of the Matadero de Mula Shelter ”. The ARRU Plan, the Kair s Project, or the transfer of the Painted House to house the future Drum Museum also stood out in their intervention, as actions of great importance for the municipality. Juan Jes s Moreno did, despite the severe crisis, a positive balance for the municipality of Mula and encouraged all the neighbors to continue maintaining “a social discipline according to the needs of this moment”, asking to maintain the measures preventive against the Covid wishing a good beginning of the year for all the neighbors.
