The government granted the qualification of Strategic Project solar park Mula (10/05/2013)

The regional government has agreed to grant the status of the Strategic Project Mula solar farm, developed by the German company JUWI, which have a capacity of 450 megawatts and whose implementation will put the Region of Murcia at the head of renewables and development of high volume energy initiatives.

This qualification as a Strategic Project involves the simplification of the deadlines for its implementation, which are reduced to 50 percent, and is awarded to those projects promoted by private or public who have a special impact on the economic development of the Region of Murcia and in particular on employment generation.

The solar plant stands in this last section, as it is expected to create 200 jobs during the 'design, promotion and project engineering', more than 1,000 jobs in the process of 'building' and more than 100 permanent jobs in the phase of 'Operation and Maintenance'.

Of the total number of jobs to be created, it is estimated that 80 percent will be graduates or college education because of the high technological component installation presented in all its phases.

The solar park will be located in the southeast of the town, with an approximate area of ​​900 hectares, which will install solar photovoltaic technology forefront, with a total investment of 450 million euros.

The facility will generate more than 750 million kilowatt / hours per year of 'clean' energy, enough to power a city like Murcia, avoiding the emission of large amounts of greenhouse gases.

Specifically, 135,750 tons of carbon dioxide per year 168 112.80 nitrate and sulfur dioxide.

Furthermore, the technology to be used, and the synergies that will get this facility by its large size, will be capable of producing electricity in the ordinary regime, and will not require for viability of the existence of premiums or economic stimulus.

From the Department of Universities, Business and Research is being promoted as a strategic statement of a total of eight projects similar to this one, which involve a total investment of 2,500 million euros in the coming years.

This decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the Council for Economic Affairs, responsible for the regulation and study of such projects of special interest.

These activities will be coordinated from the Ministry of Finance through the Directorate General of Economy, Planning and Strategic Projects.
