More than 700,000 people use the Northwest Greenway as it passes through Molina de Segura (12/11/2013)

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, said today that the Northwest Greenway is "tourist infrastructure Murcia vertebra in a more extensive", as their 80 km are "heavily traveled."

The Minister of Culture and Tourism was speaking at the opening of the section of the Greenway as it passes through Molina de Segura, after emergency works carried out by the damage caused by torrential rains in September 2012, an act which was also the presence of the Government Delegate, Joaquín Bascuñana, and the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras.

The performances, which have received an investment of 236,000 euros from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, are mainly located in the town of Molina de Segura, which suffered major damage, particularly in the stretch of road that runs parallel to the Avenue of Industry and Cuesta Street Bridge.

Northwest Greenway

The Greenway has a mixed type of firm along its 78 kilometers, with stretches of asphalt and gravel compacted, it can circulate pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders and people with disabilities, and has 13 rest areas, 10 six tunnels and viaducts.

In addition, since 2008 the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the Greenway Consortium Region of Murcia, has spent more than four million euros for the seven shelters that are along the Way

This route, which passes through nine municipalities, provides, in addition to the variety of its landscapes, an important part of the natural and cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia, with three natural areas included in the Natura 2000 network, a large number of places in their nearby or the path itself listed as a Cultural (BIC) and the distinction as historical sets high cultural value of the historic Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín and Mula.
