The plenum of the Regional Assembly unanimously approved the initiative of EPP group, defended by Deputy Jose Soria, in which the Government of the Region requested to undertake immediately all legal actions necessary to end the situation of neglect and deterioration that is the Castle of Mula and surrounding areas.
Also the full Assembly has agreed that if the property does not meet the legal requirements that is required for being a Cultural Interest, the Autonomous Community start the procedure of expropriation on the basis of Law 4/2007 in its Article 10 and he will begin the necessary steps for the immediate tasks of construction and the incorporation of the monument to the heritage of the town of Mula and Murcia.
Thus were collected claims of "Mula by its Castle" platform since we are talking about the most important monument of the town and is an icon, not only geographical but symbolic, as can be seen in the shield of the city.
It is a fortress built between 1520 and 1524 by Don Pedro Fajardo, first Marquis of Vélez
