The Community provides the City of Mula advice to improve the uptake of European funds (29/10/2015)

Mula becomes the fifth municipality which adheres to the Regional Network for Citizen Participation

The Minister of Presidency, Maria Dolores Pagan, today held a meeting with the mayor of Mula, Juan Jose Moreno, which offered counseling services and support that his department provides to municipalities to improve the uptake of European funds so may develop innovation projects, environmental, educational, or employment support and participation, among others.

Maria Dolores Pagan stated that the objective of this Unit is to "ensure that projects in the region have more chances of approval by the European Union."

For maximum efficiency, the Community will also continue to develop training activities aimed at both civil servants of the regional administration and municipal officers as responsible for non-profit entities.

The regional head informed the City Council of a forthcoming call for aid for environmental and energy projects, aimed at municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants, as in the case of Mula.

"Predictably, the announcement of these funds will open in November and will have a budget for the Region of Murcia over 68 million euros," said Pagan.

Citizen participation in Mula

Pagan Maria Dolores and Juan Jose Moreno signed the 'Regional public engagement', with which the two governments will work together to increase the role and involvement of citizens in decision-making, and to comply with the Law of Transparency and Public Participation Region of Murcia.

The adhesion of municipalities to the Regional Network of Municipalities for Citizen Participation Ministry assumes that promotes, among other things, the commitment to promote citizen participation processes to develop measures involving neighbors.

In return, the Community will provide support, advice and training in this matter to local authorities.
