The PP claims that the Regional Government the permanent exhibition of Iberian Votive Shrine at the Museum Cigarralejo (06/02/2016)

The deputy of the Popular Parliamentary Group, Elena Ruiz Valderas, recorded last January 29 a motion in the Assembly, requesting the Regional Government installation as a permanent exhibition of Iberian Votive Shrine at the Museum of Iberian Art The Cigarralejo Mula.

It is running the museum project to exhibit the collection in rooms on the ground floor of the museum space.

Elena Ruiz has highlighted the quality and artistic value of the collection, consisting of more than 200 figures carved in sandstone whose main theme is the horse.

Qualities which add to the variety of parts indicating that there might be a production center near the shrine that served to supply the needs of the faithful and pilgrims.

Ruiz noted that the reproduction of the horse, the main theme of small sculptures, took his excavator to interpret it as dedication to a protective deity of horses, an animal that had a role in antiquity, both in war and in everyday activities.

The deputy of the PP in the Regional Assembly has stressed the importance of the museum's Cigarralejo and which houses one of the finest collections of Iberian culture southeastern Spanish and has established itself as a reference point for the investigation of the Iberian culture to be the only monographic museum dedicated to this culture in our country.

It remembers that the collection that has given rise to the Museum The Cigarralejo is the result of a donation in 1989 of the researcher, archaeologist and civil engineer, Emeterio Cuadrado Diaz.

Following his successors yielded to the Autonomous Community, in 2003, the Archangel Michael appeared coming from the excavations in the Iberian Sanctuary Cigarralejo, and since then became part of museum collections of the Museum.
